Air pollution is a health risk to everyone in the Sacramento region. Spare The Air advisories will be issued when the Air Quality Index (AQI) for ground-level ozone pollution is forecast to be 150-Unhealthy or above.

This site is brought to you by the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, and the air districts of El Dorado, Placer, Solano and Yolo counties as part of a designated federal area that doesn't meet the health standard for ozone.

Weather Conditions Today through Independence Day, a weak upper-level trough of low pressure over California will enhance mixing and produce a light to moderate delta breeze in the Sacramento region, dispersing some pollutants. However, sunny skies and warm temperatures, combined with high pollutant carryover from previous days, will lead to low-Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups ozone levels on all three days. Fireworks displays may temporarily increase particle levels in local areas, especially on Friday and Saturday. Although these levels may dissipate by midnight, elevated particle concentrations can last until morning under light winds.
